What is a Stateless Application?

You can apply to stay in the UK as a stateless person if both of the following apply:

  • you’re not recognised as a citizen of any country
  • you’re unable to live permanently in any other country

You must currently be in the UK to apply. You can also make an application for registration as a UK born Stateless person on satisfying the below.

  • you are a stateless person (not recognised as a national of any country)
  • you were born on or after 1 January 1983
  • you were born in the UK
