What is a Skilled Worker Visa?

The skilled worker route is the recently introduced work permit route that enables overseas or in country migrant workers to apply for a stay with a sponsorship. As the first step to be successful under the route, your employer/ sponsor needs to offer you a job with specified salary requirements.

There is a specially designed skilled worker category under Health and Care. Qualified doctors, nurses, health professionals or adult social care professional can apply under this route. Applicants and their dependants under this category will not have to pay health surcharge.

Skilled workers are usually eligible for settlement, on completion of five years under the route.
